Instructor Costela

Marcio Ernesto de Oliveira, who was given the apelido or nickname Costela, meaning ribs in English, has been training Capoeira since the age of 12. He began training with Professor Mandioca at the Niteroi school in Carmo do Paranaiba, Minas Gerais, Brazil in 1997. He has always trained with the Cordao de Ouro group and trained in the city of Patos de Minas with Mestre Chicote, who was also the teacher of his instructor, Professor Mandioca. He earned his cords from Mestre Chicote, a student of Mestre Suassuna.
Costela came to the United States in 2004. He met Professor Baiano of Capoeira Sol Nascente in Long Branch who presented an opportunity to him to teach a Capoeira class in Point Pleasant, NJ. This was an amazing opportunity to start the first Cordao de Ouro academy on the Jersey Shore in Point Pleasant and for Costela to share his love and passion for Capoeira. Soon another opportunity arose for Costela to teach classes in Belmar at the academy of Kurt Pellegrino where he continues to teach classes to this day. In May 2010 Costela was graduated by Mestre Chicote to Formado (Instructor).
Costela has four classes a week in the Belmar Academy for all levels and even has classes just for kids.
